President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Norwegian Prime Minister (PM) Jonas Gahr Støre on December 2, 2023.
This came on the sidelines of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai.
The meeting discussed ways to promote relations between the two countries in areas of common interest, especially trade and tourism.
It also tackled ways to benefit from Norwegian expertise in projects related to clean energy, especially in light of the successful cooperation between the Egyptian government and the Norwegian company Scatec in this regard.
In addition, they discussed ways to strengthen trilateral cooperation between Egypt and Norway in Africa.
The two leaders also discussed the latest developments on a number of regional files and issues of mutual interest, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip, in the wake of the regional momentum resulting from the Cairo Peace Summit and the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit.
Furthermore, both sides stressed that the only way out of the current crisis is to work towards a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of a two-state solution, with the importance of pressuring for a ceasefire at the present time in light of the serious humanitarian implications of continuing military operations on the lives of civilians, as well as the extension of its security and political implications to the stability and security of the region as a whole.
President Sisi stressed that Egypt is continuing its efforts to coordinate regional and international efforts to push for a ceasefire, and to deliver and provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, in order to spare the Palestinian people further humanitarian suffering.
