Sisi: New Delta Project Costs LE 800 Bln

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized, on Sunday, that the "New Delta" project will provide 2 million job opportunities, adding: "We must present this project in the prestigious manner it deserves. The total cost of the project is 800 billion EGP."

​During his speech at the inauguration of the New Delta project, President Sisi added: "The development process requires effort, hard work, and sincerity from all state agencies. It takes hope and work—not just hope to achieve this in the modern era." 

"More than 200 years ago, during the era of Muhammad Ali, they wanted to establish irrigation systems. I have said this before; he utilized a completely natural path for the water, digging canals and drains according to the natural gradient of the land. It required no electricity or lifting equipment, as the water flowed naturally. But those days are gone, and such locations no longer exist. We had to move forward and work against the laws of nature—moving water 'from low to high grounds'—to collect the water and then direct it toward cultivating about 450,000 to 500,000 feddans," Sisi said.
