Sisi, Museveni Discuss Strategic Cooperation, Regional Stability in Entebbe

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met, on Wednesday, with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at the Presidential Palace in Entebbe.

​Mohamed El-Shennawy, official presidential spokesperson, stated that Museveni received the President upon his arrival at the Republican Palace, where a commemorative photo was taken and both official delegations were greeted.

This was followed by an expanded meeting attended by both delegations and a private bilateral session between the two leaders. President El-Sisi concluded the visit by signing the visitors' book at the palace.

​The spokesperson noted that President Sisi began the meeting by congratulating President Museveni on his re-election for a new presidential term, affirming that it reflects the Ugandan people's confidence in his wise leadership.

Sisi also expressed Egypt's pride in its distinguished relations with Uganda and the growing momentum they are witnessing, highlighting the importance of enhancing cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, and healthcare, as well as the participation of Ugandan cadres in Egyptian training programs.

​Moreover, he emphasized Egypt's keenness to develop trade exchange and establish sustainable investment partnerships to achieve mutual interests, stressing the need to intensify coordination at both African and international levels.

In this context, President Sisi renewed his invitation to President Museveni to participate in the African Union Coordination Summit hosted by Egypt in June 2026, as well as the African Business Forum held on its sidelines, especially since Uganda currently chairs the East African Community.

​For his part, Museveni welcomed President Sisi, expressing his great appreciation for the President and Egypt's active role on the African and international stages.

He also praised the existing cooperation between the two countries as a model for the desired integration among African nations. President Museveni also reviewed his country's efforts to achieve development according to the National Development Plan 2040, highlighting the areas in which Uganda looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Egypt and confirming the existence of vast opportunities to elevate bilateral relations.

​Furyhermore, the two presidents exchanged views on several issues of mutual concern, foremost of which were the situations in Sudan, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territories.

In this regard, President Sisi stressed the necesssity for neighboring countries to play a constructive role in restoring stability and achieving sustainable peace.

Furthermore, both leaders emphasized the need to intensify coordination and cooperation regarding water issues and the Nile River. President Museveni presented his country's vision for achieving stability on the continent and ending conflicts, emphasizing the importance of national and African solutions that take into account the continent's specificities and delicate balances.

​The official spokesperson added that a joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the visit to mark the President's visit to the sisterly Republic of Uganda.
