Sisi Mourns Military Men Killed in North Sinai Terrorist Attack

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi mourned late Thursday death of ten military personnel killed in a terrorist attack in North Sinai, Bir al-Abd, stressing that the "Forces of evil are still trying to kidnap" Egypt.

"Today, our heroic sons were betrayed south of the city of Bir al-Abd," Sisi wrote on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

He added that "The forces of evil are still trying to kidnap this country, but thanks to God and thanks to the sons of Egypt and its powerful army, they resist with strength and faith, and we are able to break the hopes of these insidious malicious souls."

"May God have mercy on our children... God save Egypt and its people...Long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt," Sisi added.

It's noteworthy that an explosive device was exploded Thursday in one of the armored vehicles, south of the city of Bir al-Abd, in North Sinai, resulting in death and injury of an officer, a non-commissioned officer and eight soldiers, according to a statement published on the official Facebook account of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ spokesperson. 

The military spokesman, colonel Tamer al-Refaie, added that the Armed Forces stressed on the continuation of the anti-terrorism operations against terrorist elements to maintain the security and stability of Egypt. 

Sources revealed that ten military elements were killed and three others were injured in that terrorist action.

Egypt’s security forces have been waging a war over the past four years against an Islamist terrorist insurgency, mostly in North Sinai, that has seen hundreds of security personnel killed, as well as hundreds of terrorists killed in security campaigns.

Last September, The Ministry of Interior carried out a proactive operation against a terrorist group in North Sinai and killed its elements in a fire exchange. Three Officers and one policeman were injured in two fire exchange.
