President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed pleasure for working with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday
Merkel left the chancellery in Berlin, ending a 31-year political career, telling her former vice-chancellor to approach the task "with joy". Olaf Scholz has been sworn in as Germany's new chancellor, formally taking power after Merkel's historic 16 years as leader.
"I had the honor of joint work, fruitful cooperation, and regular, constructive consultation for seven years with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel," Sisi tweeted.
He added that "A great character with a unique leadership style that combines wisdom and strength, Chancellor Merkel accomplished a great deal for her country, her people, Europe and the world, throughout her brilliant political career."
Egypt’s government and people will not forget what Chancellor Merkel has done for the benefit of Egyptian-German relations, and her role in strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two friendly countries and peoples, according to Sisi
"As I express my sincere appreciation for her, I wish her good health and happiness in her new life," he added.
