President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call, on Sunday, from French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the latest regional developments.
Mohamed El-Shennawy, official Presidential spokesperson, stated that the President expressed deep concern over the ongoing military escalation in the region and the continued war in Iran.
Moreover, Sisi highlighted the grave repercussions of these events, including the surge in energy prices and the disruption of supply chains as well as air and maritime transport, affecting Egypt, the region, and the international community.
The President also condemned the Iranian targeting of Arab nations at a time when Gulf states and other regional parties have demonstrated a commitment to de-escalation and a diplomatic resolution to the Iranian nuclear file. He also warned that the widening scope of the conflict risks plunging the entire region into a state of chaos.
Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, both leaders emphasized the necessity of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.
They further stressed the importance of initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts while firmly rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
The discussion also touched upon the situation in Lebanon, where both presidents underscored the importance of concerted efforts—particularly among the Quintet group (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United States, and France)—to prevent a total escalation and halt attacks on Lebanon and its infrastructure.
They reaffirmed their support for the Lebanese state and its institutions, primarily the Lebanese Army, to enable it to fulfill its responsibilities in light of recent resolutions aimed at restricting weapons to the state.
Furthermore, the two leaders stressed the necessity of resolving crises through peaceful means and intensifying regional and international efforts to contain the escalation and spare the Middle East further tension.
For his part, Macron expressed his high appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to contain the current crisis and affirmed France's keenness to restore peace and stability to the region. Both leaders agreed to maintain close consultation on regional issues and ongoing crises.
Furthermore, the call addressed the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and France.
In this regard, President Sisi praised the significant development in these relations since the announcement of the Strategic Partnership during the French President’s visit to Cairo in April 2025, expressing Egypt's desire to deepen this partnership.
In turn, Macron valued the fruitful cooperation across various sectors and emphasized the importance of activating the Strategic Partnership declaration.
In this context, they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in trade, investment, industry, transport, and education.
