Sisi, Le Maire Discuss Boosting Economic Ties, Investments

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Friday with French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire in his Paris residence on the sidelines of the International Conference on Libya hosted by France, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

On his part, the French minister welcomed Sisi in Paris, stressing his country's interest in strengthening joint strategic cooperation between the two sides with the aim of providing advanced technology to Egypt in all fields.

He also pointed out to encouraging French companies to work and invest in Egypt within the framework of contributing to advancing the comprehensive development process.

In the meantime, Sisi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance in the field of strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries, and its support for building the capacities of Egyptian institutions working in the fields of development, especially in light of the promising investment opportunities for French investors in Egypt in various sectors.

He also stressed that Egypt looks forward to partnering with France in many of these projects, such as the “Decent Life” initiative to develop the villages of the Egyptian countryside, as well as national projects for the public transport sector, whether in the field of railways, the subway, or the manufacture of electric vehicles, in addition to various projects in a number of sectors such as health, education, energy, communications, technology and artificial intelligence.

Sisi tackled encouraging French companies to contribute to the implementation of investment projects in the development axis of the Suez Canal region and to benefit from the special advantages provided by Cairo in that region.

Moreover, the French official praised the measures taken by Egypt to attract and develop foreign direct investments, noting the ministry’s role in encouraging French companies to work and invest in Egypt, and reviewing in this regard the new French investments that entered Egypt recently, as well as the expansion that took place on the other hand for the activities of some already existing French investments.

The French minister also expressed his intention to continue working and coordinating during the coming period with the concerned government agencies in Egypt in order to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
