President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Saturday that every one million people in Egypt needs a university, whether private or governmental. These statements came during the inauguration of King Salman University in Sharm El Sheikh.
“If we have 100 million people in Egypt, we need 100 universities, regardless of the classification of these universities,” Sisi said.
He added that there are 72 universities in Egypt, noting that “It is expected that Egypt's population will reach 125 million people by 2032, then we need 125 universities."
The president pointed out that "One university costs in the range of 8 to 10 billion pounds... and therefore during the next 12 years we need nearly 400 billion pounds for construction only."
Sisi stressed that the Egyptian state seeks to improve the quality of education, saying: “We seek an education that suits our hopes and dreams in Egypt.”
“Approximately 30,000 Egyptians are living abroad, and they are a burden on their people and families. Hence, we strive to absorb these numbers in Egypt.”
Sisi said that the development of a museum was started in 2010 but stopped later due to the events of 2011.
