Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has shortly arrived in Berlin for participation in an international conference on Libya, which will kick off on Sunday.
The conference is set to be attended by representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council along with the states concerned with the Libyan crisis in addition to representatives for international and regional organizations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Algerian President Abdul Majeed Tebboune, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit will also attend Berlin conference on Libya.
Libya's prime minister of the Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj, Commander of the Libya National Army Khalifa Haftar and UN Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame will also be among the attendees.
Dozens of Egyptian community members in Berlin gathered in the streets, carrying Egyptian flags, balloons, and loudspeakers to welcome President Sisi.
El Sisi is set to kick off a European trip on Saturday as he will attend the Berlin Conference on Libya hosted by Germany and the UK-Africa Summit in London.
Commander of the Libyan National Army General Khalifa Haftar and Head of the Government of the National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj confirmed their attendance.
A few days ago, Sisi received a phone call from Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed Libyan developments.
“Sisi and Merkel agreed that illegitimate foreign interferences in Libyan affairs must stop,” said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
The second stop will be in London where Sisi will take part in the UK-Africa Summit, hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
