President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Saturday, at Cairo International Airport, Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.
The President accompanied the King to Al-Ittihadiya Palace for high-level bilateral discussions.
Mohamed El-Shennawy, Official Presidential Spokesperson stated that the reception ceremony at Al-Ittihadiya Palace included an honor guard salute, the playing of the national anthems of both countries, and a commemorative photo session.
This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, an expanded session of talks involving the delegations of both countries, and a luncheon hosted by the President in honor of the Jordanian King and his accompanying delegation.
The spokesperson noted that during the talks, President Sisi welcomed the Jordanian Monarch to his second home, Egypt, emphasizing the unique and brotherly nature of the relations between the two nations and the necessity of pushing them forward to meet the aspirations of both peoples.
For his part, King Abdullah II expressed his pleasure in visiting Egypt, appreciating the fruitful cooperation and brotherly ties.
Moreover, he underscored Jordan's commitment to working with Egypt to elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons and enhance political consultation on various issues of mutual concern.
The spokesperson added that the meeting addressed developments in the Gaza Strip.
In this regard, both leaders stressed the necessity of fully implementing the agreement to end the war in Gaza, executing President Trump’s peace plan, and ensuring the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid. They also called for accelerating the commencement of early recovery and reconstruction operations in the Strip.
Furthermore, the two leaders reaffirmed Egypt and Jordan’s firm rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land.
They also discussed the latest developments in the West Bank, reiterating their rejection of all violations and arbitrary practices against the Palestinian people.
In this context, they emphasized that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The spokesperson indicated that the meeting also touched upon the situation in several countries in the region.
The leaders stressed the importance of de-escalating regional tensions, strengthening joint action to maintain stability, and resolving crises through peaceful means while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
Furthermore, they affirmed the need to continue political consultation and intensify joint coordination between Egypt and Jordan to support regional peace.
Finally, the two leaders reviewed the current status of bilateral relations, expressing satisfaction with their development.
They emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee.
Following the conclusion of the events at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, President Sisi accompanied his distinguished guest to Cairo International Airport to bid him farewell as he departed for Jordan.
