Sisi, Iraqi PM Affirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Regional Stability

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call, on Sunday, with Iraqi Prime Minister (PM) Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.

Mohamed El-Shennawy, Official presidential spokesperson stated that Sisi extended his congratulations to the Iraqi Prime Minister on assuming his position, expressing his wishes for the brotherly nation of Iraq to enjoy continued security, stability, and prosperity under the leadership of the new Iraqi government.

​Moreover, Sisi emphasized Egypt's keenness to continue working with the Iraqi side to strengthen the brotherly bonds uniting the two countries. He also highlighted the commitment to advancing bilateral relations across various fields to fulfill the aspirations and interests of both brotherly peoples, particularly through the ongoing preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee.

​For his part, Iraqi PM expressed his deep appreciation for President El-Sisi’s congratulations.

He affirmed Iraq's dedication to further developing bilateral relations with Egypt, including in the trade and investment sectors, as well as boosting the existing political coordination between the two nations regarding various regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The call also touched upon regional developments, during which President Sisi affirmed Egypt's support for the security and stability of Iraq. He emphasized the necessity of keeping Iraq distanced from any regional conflicts that could affect its stability, a stance highly appreciated by the Iraqi PM. 

Additionally, they discussed ways to enhance efforts aimed at safeguarding and protecting the sovereignty of Arab nations in light of the current various regional challenges, in order to preserve the resources and security of the peoples of the Arab world.
