President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up the executive position to establish an industrial complex for prosthetic limbs, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady's statements on Saturday.

"Sisi called for establishing an integrated system for prosthetic limbs in Egypt that includes localization of manufacturing, rehabilitation, and training at the highest standards and with the help of distinguished foreign expertise," said Rady.

The spokesman also noted that Sisi has called for the following procedures:

-Providing a unified and integrated package of high-level medical services for citizens with mobility disabilities on a sound scientific basis, in order to alleviate their suffering and help them integrate into all areas within society.

-Preparing a comprehensive database for persons with mobility disabilities at the national level.

-Incorporating academic disciplines related to prosthetic devices and physiotherapy into the curricula of modern scientific colleges recently established by the state in a series of new universities, with the aim of creating a technological incubator that will be harnessed in favor of the production of prosthetics.

Sisi met Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin El-Kabbaj, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea, Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President for Health and Prevention Affairs, Major General El-Sayed El-Ghaly, Assistant Chief of Staff of the Forces’ War Major General Doctor Eid Mahmoud, Adviser to the Minister of Defense for Medical Education and Prosthetic Devices, and Major General Muhammad Ali, Deputy Director of the Technical Research Department of the Armed Forces.

The comprehensive database aims to audit the inventory of the number of people with mobility disabilities nationwide, as well as the integration of academic disciplines related to prosthetic devices and physiotherapy.

In this context, Sisi was briefed on the current efforts by the competent authorities to establish a comprehensive industrial complex for prosthetics, prosthetic devices, and movement aids in cooperation with international expertise and major international companies.

The ongoing cooperation and coordination between the various stakeholders was also reviewed to study the number of people with mobility disabilities and the targeted quantities of prosthetic limbs.
