President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi honored on Monday the families of Egypt's martyrs, including some officers in a ceremony held at the Police Academy, on the occasion of the 71th National Police Day.

Earlier today, Sisi arrived at the Police academy in New Cairo to attend the celebrations of the 71st Police Day.

The President was welcomed upon arrival by Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq.

Senior State officials as well as a number of members of the Supreme Council of Police are also in attendance. President Sisi also laid a wreath of flowers at the monument that commemorates police martyrs.

It is worth mentioning that, Police Day commemorates resistance by Egyptian police to British occupation forces in Ismailia in 1952, which resulted in the death of dozens of police officers.
