President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan at Yerevan's Presidential Palace, where an official reception was held, national anthems were played, and the guard of honour was inspected.

According to the Presidency's spokesman, Sisi held closed talks with President Khachaturyan, followed by an expanded meeting with delegations from both countries. President Khachaturyan welcomed President Sisi's historic visit and expressed Armenia's appreciation for Egypt on both official and popular levels, praising the two friendly countries' long-standing ties.

The Armenian president praised Egypt's economic reforms and major national projects, emphasising his country's eagerness to support Egypt's development efforts in all fields, as well as looking forward to exchanging technical expertise with Egypt and collaborating in the implementation of projects in Armenia in a number of sectors where it has successful experience, particularly infrastructure and transportation.

President Sisi met privately with President Khachaturyan, followed by a larger meeting with delegations from both countries.

Sisi expressed Egypt's gratitude for the warm welcome in Armenia, highlighting the strong and historic Egyptian-Armenian friendship, particularly Egypt's hosting of the Armenian community and its members, who contributed to developments in various political, economic, cultural, and artistic fields, as well as their role in enriching Egyptian society.

The president emphasised recent progress in relations between the two friendly countries at various levels and expressed gratitude for Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's participation in COP27, which reflected the two countries' strong bilateral relations.

The President expressed his desire to strengthen economic and trade relations, citing the role of the joint committee on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, which last met in Yerevan in 2017, as well as the businessmen forum, which assists in introducing areas for investment and trade between the two countries.

The discussions touched on a variety of regional and international issues of mutual interest. Egypt's pivotal role in consolidating stability in the Middle East and Africa, particularly in combating illegal migration, achieving interfaith coexistence, and supporting peaceful solutions to crises in its regional surroundings, was lauded by President Khachaturyan.

The two presidents discussed ways to collaborate in combating terrorism and extremism, as well as ways to address the global economic consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Sisi and Khachaturyan witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding for scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, and a Memorandum of Understanding for institutional cooperation in the investment field. Following that, there was a joint press conference.
