Sisi Holds Phone Talks with Macron, Merkel

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from the French President Immanuel Macron; both leaders discussed a number of bilateral and regional issues of common interest.

The talks came within the framework of the regular consultations between both leaders to coordinate positions, especially towards settling the Libyan issue within the framework of the declared lines and stabilizing the ceasefire.

The contact also touched upon confronting terrorism and extremism and its supporters and ways to eradicate it, as well as the terrorist acts recently witnessed in France, where the President stressed the need for a complete differentiation between the Islamic religion, as it calls for promoting peace, tolerance and renouncing violence, and between actions.

The terrorist acts committed by some of the claimants of belonging to Islam while they are innocent. They are condemned acts in all their forms, and the perpetrators may not rely on any of the pine religions in carrying them out.

Sisi also pointed out to the need to focus on spreading the values ​​of coexistence between different religions through dialogue, understanding, mutual respect and non-prejudice to religious symbols.

He stressed that Egypt is continuing to play its role in this context, in a way that prevents terrorist groups and the countries supporting them from achieving their goals and distorting them. The image of Islam and its trafficking to fuel feelings.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the call dealt with a number of issues related to the strategic bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well as ways to confront extremist ideology and combat terrorism.

The President also stressed Egypt's openness to cooperation in this regard to put forward ideas in a collective international framework to reach the best solutions to combat hate speech in the world.

During the contact between the two sides, there was agreement to form a multilateral dialogue in this context to reach that goal.

The Spokesman added that President Sisi also received a phone call from the German chancellor Angela Merkel; the two discussed the latest developments of the Libyan issue.

The Egyptian haed of state tackled the Libyan issue, especially with regard to supporting the current discussions in all tracks based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the Cairo Declaration, as well as Libya's evacuation of foreign fighters.

On her part, the German Chancellor praised the vital Egyptian role in resolving the Libyan crisis, and the personal efforts of the President in this regard, which would enhance the political process in Libya, as well as consolidate Egypt's role as a basic pillar for security and stability in its regional environment and the Middle East region, stressing Germany's keenness to continue intensive cooperation and coordination between the two countries in this important file.

The call also witnessed an exchange of views on the developments of the current position of the Renaissance Dam file, as the German Chancellor expressed her aspiration to reach a solution that would achieve the interests of all parties, Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, as soon as possible.

The president affirmed that Egypt would continue to give this issue the utmost degree and defending the interests and capabilities of the Egyptian people by reaching a comprehensive, fair and balanced legal agreement between the three countries regarding the rules for filling and operating the dam.

The contact also touched on ways to enhance joint cooperation and exchange of experiences between the competent authorities in Egypt and Germany within the framework of international efforts to combat the emerging corona virus.
