Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting on Monday with his Congolese counterpart Félix Antoine Tshilombo Tshisekedi, on the sidelines of their participation in the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London.
The platform is the largest annual investment event held for the eighth time outside Africa.
The event brings together a large number of African and UK leaders, and international institutions as well as major African and British investors.
During the meeting, President Sisi expressed Egypt's pride in the historical relations that bring Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo together, stressing his country’s keenness to raise the level of coordination and bilateral consultations between the two countries.
He also pointed out the importance of continuing sending all possible aid to Congo, according to Bassam Rady, the official spokesman for the presidency.
Sisi also stressed his country’s deep appreciation for President Tshisekedi’s keenness to enhance relations between the two countries during the coming period, praising Congo’s stance supporting Egypt over Nile water issues.
He also confirmed that Egypt will always work to politically and developmentally support the Congolese people, to ensure the integrity of Congo’s territory.
On his part, President Tshisekedi expressed his country's aspiration to develop bilateral relations, especially in the various development fields, praising the prominent role led by President Sisi, during Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union, in promoting African joint action and contributing to achieving social development and economic growth of all African countries.
Concerning the bilateral level, the Congolese President praised the unlimited Egyptian support for maintaining peace and stability in Congo, pointing out to Sisi’s efforts to urge most European and world countries to provide aid to all African countries.
Sisi’s Meeting with Mauritius’s PM
The president Sisi also met with the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth to confirm Egypt's keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially trade exchange, technical support and capacity building.
During the meeting, Mauritius’s PM expressed his deep appreciation to the government and people of Egypt, appreciating the friendship and fraternal ties that unite the two countries.
He stressed his keenness to continue promoting mutual relations with Egypt at all levels, especially in the framework of various development and technical fields.
It is noteworthy that Sisi arrived in London late Sunday, shortly after leaving the German capital of Berlin, where he participated in a summit on troubled Libya.
