Sisi Heads to Paris for Int'l Conference on Libya

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will head today, Thursday, to the French capital, Paris, to take part in the Paris International Conference on Libya, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

"President Sisi's participation in this important conference comes in response to the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, and in light of the close relations between Egypt and France, as well as Egypt's pivotal role in supporting the political track in Libya at the bilateral, regional and international levels," said Rady.

Sisi is expected to focus on the solidarity of the international community to support Libya during the important historical turning point it is currently going through, especially through holding the elections expected on its scheduled date next December.

He is also interested in affirming the necessity of the exit of all foreign forces, mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libyan lands, as well as shedding light on the ongoing Egyptian efforts in this regard at various economic, political and security levels.

"The President's agenda includes holding summit talks with Macron to discuss all aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, which have witnessed a qualitative leap in recent years, in order to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, as well as continuing consultations, mutual coordination and exchanging visions on a number of regional and international files of common interest.

The President is also scheduled to hold a series of meetings with senior officials of the French government, in order to discuss ways to advance cooperation in the economic, commercial, investment and military fields between the two sides.

"President Sisi t will also meet with a number of Heads of State and Government to discuss advancing bilateral cooperation frameworks and consult on various regional and global issues," the spokesman noted.
