President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Wednesday Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate Saad Al-Hariri, stressing Egypt's support for Lebanon to restore stability, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the Director of the General Intelligence Service Mr. Abbas Kamel attended the meeting.
"Sisi welcomed Al-Hariri in Egypt and stressed Egypt’s full support for Hariri’s political path that aims to restore stability in Lebanon and address the current challenges," said Rady.
Sisi also expressed Egypt’s support for the efforts made to form the government, highlighting the importance of concerted efforts to settle differences. Thus, the capabilities of the brotherly Lebanese people would be preserved and their national unity would be maintained.
On his part, Al-Hariri hailed Egypt’s tireless and sincere efforts to mobilize international support for Lebanon at various levels amid the ongoing difficult challenges faced by the Lebanese people, particularly on the economic and political levels.
The Lebanese PM further lauded the solid historical relations between the two countries, affirming his country's appreciation for Egypt’s vital role in maintaining regional stability.
Moreover, the meeting discussed the Lebanese political situation, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and the most prominent developments in the region.
