President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received, Thursday, Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdouk who is paying an official two-day visit to Cairo, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait and Chief of General Intelligence Major-General Abbas Kamel.

“The meeting dealt with following up issues of bilateral relations between the two sides in light of Sisi’s recent visit to Khartoum, as well as developments in regional issues of mutual interest,” Rady said.
Regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue, the latest developments and joint efforts between Egypt and Sudan were also reviewed.
The two sides agreed to intensify close coordination in light of the current delicate stage, and to strengthen contacts with regional and international parties to activate the Sudanese proposal by forming an international quartet to mediate so as to help reach a comprehensive and binding legal agreement on the rules for filling and operating the dam before the next rainy season.
Sisi welcomed Hamdok to Cairo, expressing his pride in the depth of the strategic relations and fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries and the peoples of the Nile Valley.

He stressed that “these constants have always represented a firm approach to Egyptian politics,” especially in light of the current transitional phase that Sudan is going through, adding that Khartoum needs all the support from its brothers to enhance stability and development.
“Sisi also affirmed Egypt's continuous support to Sudan through cooperation and coordination in all files of mutual interest,” Rady added.
On his part, Hamdok commenced “the fruitful results of the president's recent visit to his second country, Sudan,” stressing the unique Egyptian-Sudanese relations, and the pride of the Sudanese people and government for the historical ties with Egypt.
In this regard, the Sudanese PM lauded the Egyptian positions to preserve the stability of Sudan, calling on Egypt “the center of gravity of the Arab region and the African continent, and the axis for maintaining regional security as a whole.”
The meeting witnessed discussions on ways to advance bilateral cooperation in various fields between the two brotherly countries, especially with regard to the transfer of the Egyptian experience in economic reform to Sudan and the training of Sudanese cadres, in addition to the implementation of the two projects of electrical and railway connections, and the promotion of a favorable climate for the establishment of joint investment projects.
The meeting also touched upon an exchange of views on all regional issues in the Horn of Africa and the Nile Basin regions. “Hamdok briefed Sisi on the latest developments in the current tensions on the Sudanese-Ethiopian borders.”
