Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly sent a greeting cable to Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki on the 38th anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day, in which Madbouly expressed his best wishes to all army men, wishing Egypt more security and stability.

Meanwhile, the cabinet has said that Saturday, April 25, is a paid holiday for all public and private sector workers to mark the 38th anniversary of the Sinai Liberation Day.

The manpower ministry announced Wednesday that the day would be a paid day off for all private-sector employees.

On 25 April, Egypt celebrates the completion of the withdrawal of all Israeli military forces from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982, following the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty.

Al Azhar greeted on Friday President Sisi and the Egyptian people on the same occasion. In a statement, Al Azhar said the liberation of Sinai reflected the unity of the Egyptian people and their determination to achieve a victory.

Al Azhar also mourned slain servicemen, who sacrificed their souls to liberate Sinai, whether in the past or in the current era.

Moreover, Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II extended his greetings to President Sisi and all Egyptian people on the occasion of Liberation Day.

Minister of Religious Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa has congratulated Sisi, the Armed Forces and the Egyptian people on the Liberation Day.

In a statement on Saturday, the minister highlighted the religious and historical status of Sinai as mentioned in the Holy Quran and the importance of developing it and investing its national resources as well as the religious, natural and tourist landmarks.

He cited several verses mentioned in the Holy Quran about the importance of Sinai, urging exerting more efforts for eliminating terrorist groups in the peninsula.
