On Tuesday, Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Gérard Larcher, Speaker of the French Senate in Paris, according to the Presidency spokesman, Bassam Radi.
In a statement, the spokesman said that Larcher expressed his warm welcome to El-Sisi's visit to the French Senate, hailing the distinguished bilateral relations between the Egyptian and French peoples.
He also clarified France's keenness to strengthen the partnership with Egypt in various fields, especially at the parliamentary level.
On his part, the President expressed his aspiration to make his visit to France as a starting point for promoting the distinguished friendship ties between Egypt and France at various levels, especially in its parliamentary aspect through the exchange of visits between the two countries, in a way that contributes to strengthening communication bridges between the two peoples.
The spokesman added that the meeting touched on ways to activate joint cooperation frameworks and develop bilateral relations between the two countries, and push them towards broader horizons during the next stage, especially in the tourism, cultural and development fields.
During the meeting, they also reviewed a number of regional issues in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, in addition to the comprehensive Egyptian vision regarding the multiple challenges facing the region, especially combating terrorism and extremist ideology, and restoring security and stability in a number of Arab and African countries, such as Libya and Syria.
