Sisi, French PM Probe Cooperation on Projects, Defense

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed on Tuesday with French Prime Minister Jean Castex in Paris ways of boosting relations between the two countries in the fields of mega national projects, defense, and security.

"The meeting also tackled cooperation between Cairo and Paris in the areas of services, energy, transport, education, health, culture, tourism, and antiquities," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Castex voiced appreciation for historic ties binding Egypt and France, stressing that the French government is keen to increase its investments in Egypt to support development projects there.

He also lauded great national projects implemented in Egypt in record time during the era of President Sisi.

Sisi, on his part, expressed hope that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries would increase in the coming period.

The president termed France as one of the most important partners to Egypt in Europe, calling on the French businessmen to make use of investment opportunities available in Egypt.

The meeting also tackled several issues of mutual concern, topped by the Libyan and Syrian crises, and the Palestinian issue.
