President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting on Saturday with the President’s Advisor for Urban Planning, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and the Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Major General Ihab El-Far, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
"Sisi followed up on the status of the Engineering Authority projects implemented nationwide," Rady said.
Many officials attended the meeting, such as the Head of the Consultative Office of the Engineering Authority, Major General Ashraf El-Araby, Assistant to the Head of the Engineering Authority for Road Designs, Brigadier Abdel Aziz El-Feki, and the Director of the “Ibdaa” marble and artwork factory, Dr. Tariq Al-Khudairi.
Sisi also reviewed the status of axes and road sector projects across the country, especially those in Greater Cairo.
The President gave directives to start establishing Alhadara Axis, which will act as an additional entrance to Hadabet El Mokattam. The axis will connect it to the area that includes the civilizations museum and Ain El Sira, reaching the Nile Corniche in Maadi. It will also intersect with a number of new transverse axes extending to East and New Cairo.
He also gave directives to raise the efficiency and expand the old axis that leads to Mokattam from Salah Salem Road to accommodate 5 lanes in each direction, so as to help connect Hadabet El Mokattam to the various neighborhoods in Cairo and allow the smooth movement of citizens.
The meeting covered efforts to raise the efficiency of roads in South Sinai Governorate, especially from Nuweibaa to Taba, as well as the status of developing the Upper Egypt road network, especially the Maragha Axis. The President gave directives to enhance the progress of work on these important new axes on the Nile with the aim of facilitating movement and serving new development projects and urban communities.
Moreover, Sisi was also briefed on efforts to utilize and develop the area around the monorail station on Youssef Abbas Street in Nasr City, in addition to developing the Shams Club area and the surrounding lands. This is in addition to making the best use of vacant lands on the sides of the axes and roads in order to implement alternative housing units, as well as the status of the International Motor City.
The meeting also touched on the progress of a number of national projects across the country, especially Al Galala City, as well as efforts to develop St. Catherine Airport to keep pace with the comprehensive development of the city, within the framework of implementing the huge spiritual and tourism project, The Great Transfiguration over the Land of Peace.
