President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi followed up on the activity and projects of the Suez Canal economic zone.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister (PM) Mostafa Madbouly, Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdullah, Electricity, and Renewable Energy Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Maait, Housing Minister Dr. Assem El-Jazzar, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Hani Swailem, Head of Suez Canal Economic Zone, Walid Sami, and Major General A.H. Hisham Souefi, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.
The meeting reviewed the map of investment projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), and the existing efforts to strengthen them through the various industrial zones to be established in SCZONE in cooperation with foreign partners.
Moreover, they discussed efforts to localize new and renewable energy and green fuel projects, especially the green hydrogen and green ammonia projects, in cooperation with the foreign partnership, in order to benefit from the fruitful results of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Climate Summit COP27.
In addition, Sisi directed that the projects' strategy in SCZONE should focus on investments aimed at localizing technology, possessing industrial capacity, and providing job opportunities, within the framework of the comprehensive development process at the level of the Republic.
Furthermore, the president ordered to strengthen existing efforts to attract Foreign investments into the SCZONE in the field of clean energy production, in order to maximize the benefit from the strategic and vital location of the canal, which contributes to becoming one of the leading and attractive areas in the world in this emerging industry.
