President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up, Saturday, on the executive position for the development of El-Manzala Lake and its surroundings, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Engineer Sherif Ismail, Assistant to the President for National and Strategic Projects, Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, Yasmine Fouad, Minister of the Environment, Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Al-Qaseer, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, and Major General Hisham Al-Suwaifi, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.
"The meeting witnessed follow-up on the executive position for the development of Manzala Lake and its surroundings," Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady said.
The president directed the continuation of efforts to purify and develop Manzala Lake, as well as all lakes across the country, especially with regard to developing and organizing marinas and fishermen’s boats and providing them with services.
During the meeting, efforts to develop Manzala Lake were reviewed, through several main axes, including environmental aspects, fisheries, maritime transport, tourism, and the social and economic dimension. Improving the water quality and the environmental situation therein, in addition to carrying out protection and disinfection works.
Proposals to develop and exploit investment opportunities in Manzala Lake, which aim to preserve it and achieve sustainable development, were presented, and the procedures included in these proposals related to maximizing the return from exploiting the lake, whether in terms of environmental, economic, urban, social, or tourism terms.
