Sisi Follows up on Development Project in North Sinai, Toshka

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with the prime minister, and the President's assistant for National and Strategic Projects and discussed the developments of the development projects in North Sinai and South Valley.

"The meeting was also attended by the minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, governor of North Sinai, Chairman of the Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority, the Commander of the Second Field Army, and Chairman of the Sinai Development Authority," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The Spokesman stated that, during the meeting, the implementation status of the development projects in North Sinai and East Owainat and Toshka in the South Valley was presented.Sisi Follows up on development Project in North Sinai, Toshka

Sisi was briefed on the efforts made by various state authorities to prepare the infrastructure for development in those areas, especially with regard to electric power, water resources and agriculture.

President Sisi gave directives for getting this work done in an integrated manner among the concerned sectors.

"Sisi called for adopting a comprehensive strategic approach that achieves the interest and goals of the state which are represented in increasing the productive agricultural area and building modern urban communities in North and Central Sinai and the South Valley," Rady added.

During the meeting, the president was briefed on efforts to strengthen the axes of agriculture and irrigation by digging canals and water channels to transfer water from treatment plants in the west of the Suez Canal to the east.

He also was briefed on the efforts made to develop North Sinai cities, especially Arish. The development of this region is part of the state's comprehensive vision of restoring and developing this area and its infrastructure by constructing a number of new axes, expanding and raising the efficiency of existing roads, renewing facilities and buildings and making the utmost use of lands.
