Sisi Follows Up Executive Position of Dabaa Nuclear Plant, National Electricity Projects

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up the executive position of the national electricity projects and the Dabaa nuclear plant on Sunday, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, and Director of Military Operations Authority Lieutenant General Osama Askar as well as Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) Dr. Amged El-Wakeel.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, they tackled the implementation status of several national projects underway in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Regional electricity interconnection projects and developments in Dabaa Nuclear Plant Project were also discussed.

Sisi gave directives for continuing the efforts directed towards the governance of electricity services management systems nationwide within the framework of the expansion of mechanization and the use of prepaid smart meters to improve the service provided and ensure efficient collection mechanism.

Sisi Stresses Importance of Power Projects

He highlighted the importance of promoting efforts aimed to implement electricity interconnection projects with neighboring regional countries. These efforts shall be exerted in furtherance of mutual interests aiming to boost development and encourage good management of electrical energy to make the utmost use of it throughout the year.

The president also called for expanding the national projects to use new and renewable energy‎. He also underlined the importance of completing the electricity system development process in Egypt and enhancing its infrastructure, as part of the state’s comprehensive plan that is aimed at renewing the electricity generation system.

"The steps taken to develop electricity supply to the South Valley in Toshka and East Oweinat areas were presented. The issue of electricity supply to development clusters in North Sinai was further discussed. Additionally, developments of various strategic projects underway nationwide to use new and renewable energy sources and foreign investments in this regard were tackled, together with the latest developments in the electricity interconnection project with the neighboring countries," Rady added.

During the meeting, the implementation status of the Nuclear Power Plant Project in Dabaa was presented. In this respect, President Sisi emphasized on the importance of ensuring the highest standards of nuclear safety and security in accordance with international rules.

He further affirmed the significance of nuclear energy in contributing to electricity generation in Egypt, thus supporting its economic and social development plans.
