President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his wife, Entissar, received today, Thursday, HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and his wife Princess Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at Ettahadiya Palace in eastern Cairo, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The two-day visit comes as part of a tour, which will take them to Jordan as well.

This is the first ever foreign tour of its kind by Prince Charles and his espouse since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. Prince Charles’ visit is the third of its kind and the first following June 30 revolution and progress and achievements made in Egypt, said British Ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley.

The visit strongly reflects distinguished relations binding Egypt and the UK. It will contribute to enhancing humanitarian bonds between the two countries, Bayley added.

Charles and Camilla  started their visit to the Kingdom of Jordan between Nov 16th to 18th.

Next, they visited Egypt between Nov 18th to 19th and it will shed light on Egypt’s close relationship with the United Kingdom. It will also provide an opportunity for Egypt’s growing commitment to protecting the environment.

This visit comes immediately after hosting the UK in the 26th Climate Change Summit and Candidacy of Egypt for the presidency of the 27th session of the Summit in 2022.

Charles, during his visit, will discuss the best way for working together to control climate change. The visit will shed light on the preservation of cultural heritage and religious tolerance in Egyptian society.
