President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Charles Michel, President of the European Council.
Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy stated that the call dealt with a number of regional and international files and issues of common interest between Egypt and the European Union, especially the developments in Sudan.
In this regard, EU President expressed deep concern about the deteriorating political, security and humanitarian situation, and its impact on civilians and foreign communities, pointing out to the importance of the role played by Egypt to advance efforts to reach a cease-fire and calm the situation in Sudan.
The spokesman added that Sisi affirmed Egypt's full support for the brotherly Sudanese people in the serious crisis they are going through, highlighting Egypt's efforts to reduce escalation and reach a comprehensive and permanent cease-fire, and the contacts it is making in this regard with the actors at both regional and international levels.
In this context, Egypt's head of state stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to activate the political track and peaceful dialogue, in a way that pushes towards the return of stability and security, and takes into account the supreme interests of the brotherly Sudanese people.
