President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Eritrean Foreign Minister (FM) Osman Saleh on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad, as well as Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of General Intelligence.
According to the Presidential Spokesperson, Eritrean FM conveyed the greetings of President Isaias Afwerki, which President El-Sisi warmly welcomed, emphasizing the deep ties between Egypt and Eritrea and Egypt’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in all fields.
The discussions focused on the situation in the Horn of Africa and ways to enhance regional stability.
Both parties stressed the importance of joint efforts and coordination with Somalia, reaffirming their commitment to supporting Somalia in combating terrorism and preserving its unity and territorial integrity.
Additionally, the talks addressed efforts to restore peace and stability in Sudan, as well as measures to protect the Red Sea and strengthen governance and security efforts among coastal states.
Both sides rejected the involvement of non-coastal states in Red Sea security matters, reaffirming their stance on regional sovereignty and stability.
