Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian oil and gas company Eni, on Sunday, to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between Egypt and the company.
The meeting was also attended by Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Alessandro Puliti, Chief Operating Officer Natural Resources of Eni.
The meeting tackled the company’s activity in Egypt in the fields of exploration and production in both gas and oil sectors, according to Presidency spokesman Bassam Rady.
During the discussions, "Eni" CEO reviewed the overall developments of its ongoing projects in Egypt, especially in the Red, and Mediterranean sea, as well as Western region.
Descalzi also praised the fruitful partnership with Egypt, under the sponsorship and support of president Sisi; a matter which has had a great positive impact on the success of the company's business and activities in the country.
He also stressed that Egypt is an important partner for the Italian company’s international activity.
On his part, Sisi expressed support for the company’s continued expansion of investments in its Egypt-based exploration and production, in order to maximize the state's resources of gas and petroleum, in addition to serving the development process and the national economy.
Moreover, the president directed the government to continue intensive cooperation with Eni, and remove any obstacles that the company may face in its work in Egypt.
