On occasion of the International Workers’ Day, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi described the Egyptian workers as the driving force for progress, pillar for development and strong base for production.

"I greatly appreciate their efforts in all production fields across the country," the president wrote on his official social media accounts on Friday.

"With their valued effort, strong will and sincere work, our country's future will be better," Sisi added.

Sisi: Egyptian Workers Are Driving Force For Progress

“You represent a patriotic segment that is a driving force for progress and development,” he noted.

Last year, Sisi said that work is a very great value and that all the major countries have not only been built through leadership or through a system, but also through its citizens, both men and women.

President Sisi has earlier launched an initiative to allocate allowance for informal workers, whose work have been affected by the current crisis due to the novel coronavirus.

On April 7, he announced a new government plan to dispense a monthly payment of EGP 500 to day laborers and others in irregular modes of employment for three months.

President Sisi also urged private sector employers to pay employees in full and reiterated the government’s commitment to enforcing social distancing and other public health and safety measures, such as reducing workplace attendance in state agencies and offering paid leaves.

Furthermore, Sisi demanded the reduction of workplace attendance across the nation, especially among elderly and women employees.

The workplace in Egypt reached 28.9 million employees in the fourth quarter of the 2019 fiscal year, according to a report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in November 2020.

In mid-March, Sisi emphasized adopting a number of measures aimed at increasing the income of civil servants in the country to raise their standard of living.
