President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt seeks to generalize 100 Million Health Initiative in the African countries.

Sisi was delivering a speech on Monday during the UN High-Level Meeting on universal health coverage on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly meetings (UNGA74), held in New York.

"Egypt succeeded in examining more than 60 million citizens under the umbrella of the health initiative," the president noted.

He pointed out that the country put the citizens' health on the top of its priorities, adding that Egypt has already started in implementing the new comprehensive health insurance system.

He urged the development partners to work on finding solutions for a better life for all citizens.

President Sisi, during his speech, expressed his happiness for partaking in the meeting on providing comprehensive healthcare, while half of the world's population still suffer from lack of suitable health services.

All governments and development partners should work on finding quick solutions for boosting the primary healthcare as a main human right, Sisi said.

Efforts of providing comprehensive healthcare will be only achieved through giving access to pharmaceuticals and health technology, establishing partnerships among the governments, international organizations, and companies to offer effective and safe pharmaceuticals for all people.

In this regard, Sisi appreciated the World Health Organization's vision 2019–2023.

"In less than one year, Egypt has succeeded in examining more than 60 million citizens under the umbrella of the initiative," the president stated.

He added that more than one million patients, diagnosed with hepatitis C, are being cured for free.

Egypt's efforts were crowned by the WHO during its director's visit to Cairo in August, he mentioned.

The president pointed to eliminating the surgical waiting lists that included nearly 250,000 patients and initiatives of early detection of anemia, obesity and dwarfing at schools, Egyptian Woman Health, and detection and treating hearing impairment among newborns.

The initiatives are set to expand to include African states in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union, as Egypt seeks to generalize 100 Million Health initiative in the African states in cooperation with WHO, he further said.
