President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Wednesday Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, in the presence of Sameh Shukry, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Qureshi conveyed to Sisi a message from Pakistani President Arif Alvi which included an invitation to his Excellency to visit the State of Pakistan, within the framework of the depth of relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
He asserted that the stability of Egypt is a “pillar” in the Middle East and the Islamic world as a whole.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan also conveyed the greetings of the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his praise of the inspiring Egyptian experience, represented by the huge achievements that Egypt has witnessed over the past years in various fields with a wise leadership and an insightful vision of Sisi.
Moreover, he lauded Egypt’s efforts in combating terrorism, achieving security and stability, efforts to achieve comprehensive development and the deep economic reform and the establishment of the major national projects.
The Pakistani diplomat hailed the Egyptian development experience and “looks forward to benefiting from this experience against the background of the similarities of the situations in both friendly countries and the common challenges facing them.”
For his part, Sisi requested to convey his greetings to his Pakistani counterpart and PM Khan, pointing out to the historical relations that bind the two countries.
Rady added that “Both countries are looking forward to exploring new horizons for bilateral cooperation.”
“President Sisi affirmed that Egypt believes that Pakistan is one of the largest Islamic countries, and welcomed the development of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experiences in various fields, and keenness on strengthening coordination and consultation with it on various regional issues of common interest, most notably the countering terrorism and extremist ideology,” noted Rady.
He manifested that the meeting discussed ways to enhance the frameworks of bilateral cooperation in a number of areas in line with the status and potential of the two countries and meet the aspirations of their peoples, especially in terms of security and economic cooperation, trade and investment exchange.
The latest developments in the situation in the Middle East and the Islamic world were reviewed, where the importance of continuing intensive coordination and pushing forward joint efforts between the two countries to maintain regional and international peace and security and combat terrorism, in addition to intensifying efforts to correct religious discourse and spread the true religion of Islam.
