In Detail: Sisi Tackles Economic, Commercial Cooperation Ties with Omani Businessmen

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting Tuesday in Muscat with representatives of the business community and heads of major companies in the Sultanate of Oman, with the participation of a number of senior Omani officials and representatives of various concerned government agencies.

Sisi welcomed the meeting, which embodies the spirit of distinguished fraternal cooperation between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman, stressing Egypt’s keenness during the coming period to develop economic and commercial cooperation relations with the Omani business community and companies and to develop joint investments to contribute to supporting the economic development process in the two countries.

This is in a framework of joint action to maximize mutual interests and make optimal use of available opportunities.

In the meantime, Sisi also praised the positive developments witnessed by the economic and trade relations between the two countries during the last period, explaining in this regard the various investment opportunities offered by the mega projects being implemented in Egypt, foremost of which is the development axis of the Suez Canal Zone, which includes a number of industrial zones and major logistics, which provides promising opportunities for Omani companies wishing to take advantage of Egypt's strategic location.

Sisi also stressed that the qualitative leap that Egypt witnessed recently in the various development sectors reflects the strong will of the state, with its governmental and popular components, to achieve sustainable development, which will have positive repercussions on the strengthening of bilateral relations between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman by opening the doors to maximizing the existing Omani investments in various sectors.

"Sisi indicated that the distinguished bilateral relations are the real umbrella to support efforts to develop joint cooperation in various economic fields through the availability of the necessary political will to do so," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

On their side; Senior Omani officials and businessmen expressed their honor to meet the president and their happiness in organizing this meeting, which represents a great opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and joint cooperation.

They affirmed their aspiration to discuss the possibilities of maximizing cooperation between the two countries, especially with the availability of many fields and promising investment opportunities in Egypt, especially in renewable energy, ports, shipping, transportation, tourism, construction, real estate development and the automotive industry, in addition to the possibility of benefiting from free trade agreements linking Egypt with African and European countries to access these markets.

The attendees from the Omani side also hailed the keen and periodic personal follow-up of the Egyptian president of the measures taken to facilitate the flow of Omani investments to Egypt, and the remarkable development and growth in the Egyptian economy, supported by the efforts and measures adopted by the Egyptian government to accelerate the development process, especially with the implementation of many giant national projects, which would present Egypt as an important development partner in the international arena.

The meeting witnessed an open dialogue with the heads and representatives of Omani companies, who affirmed their welcome to intensify cooperation with Egypt to achieve the common interests of both sides, while reviewing their plans to invest in Egypt or to expand their existing projects in many fields.

They also asserted in this regard the importance of strengthening communication between representatives of the sector to advance bilateral economic relations to broader horizons that converge with the aspirations of the two peoples.
