President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Wednesday the ministers of the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Sisi stressed that “The current impact of the energy sector globally, confirmed the insightful strategic vision of establishing the forum years ago.”

“The gas resources inherent in the eastern Mediterranean are a motive for cooperation, peace and development for the benefit of the peoples of the region,” he said.

Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, attended the talks.

“Sisi expressed his appreciation for the Forum’s ministers’ efforts in advancing the activities of the Forum during the past three years, which reinforced the importance and role of the Forum for cooperation in the field of energy regionally and internationally, taking into account the energy sector is currently affected by global conditions,” said Rady.

An open dialogue took place during the meeting, where the President stressed his keen follow-up to the results of the meeting and what will be agreed upon, stressing Egypt's full support for the forum and its objectives, in a manner that serves all the countries of the region and their development interests and helps provide a sustainable energy source for the benefit of peoples and future generations.
