CAIRO, March 23 (SEE) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral partnership between Egypt and the programme, said Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Rady added that Sisi and Beasley reviewed different activities of the WFP in Egypt during their meeting held on Saturday in Cairo.

62-year old Beasley is an American politician who is the Executive Director of the U.N. World Food Programme.

Beasley, a member of the Republican Party, served one term as the 113th Governor of South Carolina from 1995 until 1999; he was defeated by Democrat Jim Hodges in the 1998 election.

The World Food Programme is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.

According to the WFP, it provides food assistance to an average of 91.4 million people in 83 countries each year.
