President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the urgent need for the swift and high-quality completion of all Ministry of Transport projects, placing particular focus on Egypt’s mass transit network, which he said is vital for improving services to citizens, boosting investment, and advancing tourism.

The remarks came during a meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir.

President Sisi underlined the importance of continuing efforts to localize the transport industry and develop Egypt’s ports in an integrated manner with the state’s infrastructure projects, aiming to maximize returns, strengthen national capabilities, and create additional job opportunities.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy said the president reviewed the master plan for developing Damietta Port, along with ongoing projects in the sector.

The president also followed up on progress in upgrading, expanding, and improving the efficiency of the 116-km Ring Road around Greater Cairo, as well as maintenance work on the 6th of October Bridge and planned expansions to accommodate rising traffic volumes.

Shennawy added that the transport minister reviewed efforts to expand environmentally friendly, sustainable mass transit systems, including progress on the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The minister also outlined developments in upgrading the Nile River bus system in Greater Cairo, preparations for the East Nile Monorail, and implementation of the high-speed electric rail network.

He further reviewed plans to relocate the Alexandria–Marsa Matrouh railway line from Fouka to Samala station in Marsa Matrouh, along with updates on the sixth line of the Cairo Metro.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the comprehensive plan to upgrade Egypt’s maritime transport sector, a key pillar of Egypt Vision 2030, in line with presidential directives to position Egypt as a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade.

In this context, the minister reviewed ongoing seaport development projects, including the construction of berths and terminals, breakwaters, and dredging works to deepen navigation channels.

He also highlighted efforts to enhance cooperation with African countries, particularly Djibouti and Tanzania, within Egypt’s strategy to strengthen ties with African partners and support their development through mutually beneficial projects.

The president directed the continuation of these efforts, in line with Egypt’s approach to supporting development across the African continent.
