President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed his condolence to the families of the victims who passed away in the train crash accident in Sohag, Upper Egypt, leaving 32 killed and 66 wounded on Friday.
"I closely followed up on the tragic accident that we saw today when two trains collided in Sohag Governorate," Sisi tweeted.
He added that "The pain in our hearts today will only increase our determination to put an end to this type of disaster."
"I have directed the Prime Minister and all concerned bodies to be present at the site of the accident and to follow up continuously and to keep me informed of all developments and reports related to the situation."
Sisi stressed that "a deterrent punishment shall be applied to everyone who caused this painful accident neither through negligence, corruption or something else, without exception, delay or procrastination."
"I extend my full condolences to the families of the martyrs who passed away today, I offer the families of the injured full sympathy, support, and my wishes for a speedy recovery, God willing," he noted.
He also directed the concerned agencies to take all necessary measures and provide adequate compensation to the families of the martyrs and victims.
