President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a phone call with President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo to congratulate him on winning a new presidential term in elections held in March 2026.
According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, Sisi said the election result reflects the confidence of the Congolese people in continuing development efforts under Sassou Nguesso’s leadership. He also expressed Egypt’s interest in continuing joint work to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination at the regional and international levels.
For his part, President Sassou Nguesso expressed appreciation for the call and affirmed his country’s commitment to further developing ties with Egypt across various fields.
The two leaders also discussed a number of regional and international issues, stressing the importance of resolving conflicts in Africa through peaceful means while preserving state sovereignty and supporting development and stability.
