Moments ago, Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has just sent a message of condolence over the death of the Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza.
The message noted the deepest condolences expressed by President Sisi to Burundi people and to all the African brothers on the death of President Pierre, whom he regarded a national leader who presented a lot to his people and his country, and exerted a great deal of effort in African issues and to advance joint African action in facing various challenges.
President Sisi extended his prayers for the late president to rest in peace and for his family to get empowered by patience, and wished all success and progress to the people of Burundi in the coming time.
Earlier, it was reported that Burundi’s President has passed away at the age of 55 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The Burundi’s government announced his sudden death on its Twitter official page; it said he died due to a cardiac arrest in Cinquantenaire hospital.
According to BBC, “the late president was hospitalised on Saturday after feeling unwell, his condition improved but on Monday he had a cardiac arrest and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful,” officials said
