Sisi Calls on Imams to Study Humanities

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, the minister presented the efforts made by the Ministry of Awqaf with regard to Da‘wah, renewal of religious discourse, translation, publishing, and training programs provided for imams. He also presented the developments that took place in the Authority of Awqaf.

The minister presented the ministry's efforts in the field of authorship, translation, and publishing with the aim of consolidating the pillars of Da‘wah and the correct principles of Islam.Sisi

President Sisi called for, in this regard, raising awareness about the true religion, correcting misconceptions, and providing training programs for imams and preachers. The president noted that it is important for the imams to study humanities and new Da‘wah methods within these programs so as to hone their communication skills.

The president also followed up on the plans of the ministry with respect to involvement and the management of the authority’s funds. Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa said that the authority has made a qualitative leap during the fiscal year 2019/2020 since it has generated the highest annual revenue in its history.

El-Sisi called for preserving the financial resources of the Ministry of Awqaf so that all its financial transactions would be made in accordance with the actual commercial value.

Sisi Calls for More Coordination Between Institutions

Dr. Gomaa also presented the efforts made by the Ministry regarding the joint work aimed to shape the national character, in cooperation with the various relevant bodies such as the ministries of culture, higher education, and education and the National Media Authority.

Sisi called for promoting coordination and harmony between these institutions in this vital field.

The minister also presented the ministry’s plan regarding the reconstruction and maintenance of mosques. The president also was briefed on the ministry’s efforts with regard to charity and community services. The minister also mentioned that the financial resources of this year's budget have been allocated for providing support to the health and education sectors and people with special needs.
