On Sunday, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly to follow up the establishment of typical central inspection laboratories in all the country's ports, according to the presidency spokesman, Bassam Rady.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Transport, Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Al-Sayed el-Quseir, Minister of Trade And Industry, Neven Jamea, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Public Treasury Ehab Abou Aish, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Food Safety, Dr. Hussein Mansour.
The spokesman said that the President directed all concerned ministers to immediately draw up the executive steps for the establishment of central laboratories in Egyptian ports with the aim of governing and expediting customs release procedures.
He added that the move also aims to limit the number of parties engaged in that process by establishing a typical central laboratory in each port, with full automation and electronic linking of these laboratories with the port system.
The President also stressed the importance of developing the current legal and legislative framework governing the activity of port laboratories, in line with the comprehensive modernization plans.
The Spokesman stated that the meeting also touched on the status of current laboratories located in the ports, as well as what is required to be established, whether in terms of the financial cost or the required technical equipment in all sea, air and land ports nationwide.
