Sisi Calls for Establishing EGP 435 B-Desalination, Water Treatment Plants

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed with the prime minister and a number of concerned officials the executive position of new cities, social housing, developing Cairo's neighborhoods, and regions, as well as efforts to provide water through a network of water treatment and desalination plants nationwide.

President Sisi met Monday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, and Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Adviser to the President for Urban Planning, according to Spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic Bassam Rady. 

Rady added that the meeting tackled the executive position of the Ministry of Housing projects nationwide, especially new cities, developing informal areas and water networks. Sisi Calls for Establishing EGP 435 B-Desalination, Water Treatment Plants

“The president was briefed on the proposal of the Greater Transfiguration On the Land of Peace" in the sacred area in Sinai in the vicinity of the Moses and St. Catherine mountains,” the spokesperson said.

In this regard, Sisi asked to study all aspects of the infrastructure of the project in coordination with all concerned government bodies, so that the project would be a spiritual added value for humanity as a whole.

Rady stated that Minister Gazzar presented the measures that the Ministry of Housing is undertaking in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to alleviate the water deficit and improve water quality. “In this regard, Sisi called on the expansion in this project within the framework of the state’s strategy that includes establishing projects for treatment and desalination plants with a total value of EGP 435 billion, in addition to other projects to rationalize and reduce water losses,” noted Rady.

The Egyptian president called on possessing the technical capacity to localize the technology of water treatment and desalination plants because of their significant revenue and support for the state's efforts in this vital field.
