Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that Cairo Water Week has become a global intellectual platform and a center for international dialogue and cooperation on water issues, as Egypt continues to promote sustainable management of this vital resource.
Speaking at the opening session of the 8th Cairo Water Week, President El-Sisi described Egypt as “a gift of the Nile — the land of the eternal river, a lifeline connecting our past, present, and the future of generations to come.”
The President emphasized that protecting water resources is a matter of national survival, stressing that it is no longer a local or regional concern, but a global issue that requires intensified international cooperation.
“The world faces multiple challenges related to growing demand for water and the scarcity of resources,” El-Sisi said, calling for stronger transboundary cooperation in managing shared water resources.
Since its inception, Cairo Water Week has emerged as a leading event for scientists, policymakers, and organizations to exchange experiences and develop innovative solutions for global water security, in line with Egypt’s commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6.5) and the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
