Sisi & Blinken Hold Talks in Cairo

On Monday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his accompanying delegation, with General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence, also in attendance. 

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the meeting focused on the latest developments in joint efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of hostages and detainees. 

Both sides agreed to intensify these efforts during the current phase.

The discussion also covered Egyptian efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. President El-Sisi emphasised the importance of international cooperation to remove obstacles to humanitarian aid delivery, the necessity of ending the conflict in Gaza, preventing the expansion of the conflict, and advancing the two-state solution.

Secretary Blinken expressed the U.S. administration's appreciation for Egypt's ongoing efforts on both political and humanitarian fronts. He reiterated the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries to restore peace and security in the region.

The spokesperson added that the meeting reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and the commitment of both countries to maintain joint coordination on various issues and topics.
