President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call this evening from US President Joe Biden, addressing the situation in the region and efforts to restore regional stability; Where President Sisi stressed the continuation of Egyptian contacts with various parties in the region; to urge non-escalation and restraint, in light of the seriousness of the situation in the Middle East.
The official spokesman for the Presidency Ahmed Fahmy said that the two presidents reviewed the results of the round of negotiations held in Doha over the past two days, within the framework of the implementation of the Egyptian-American-Qatari joint statement, on reaching an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ending the human suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and agreed to continue and intensify joint efforts in the coming days to reach an agreement in this regard.
The two presidents also discussed the overall current regional position, where President Sisi stressed the continuation of Egyptian contacts with various parties in the region; to urge de-escalation and restraint, in light of the seriousness of the situation in the Middle East, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty of countries and avoid the region sliding into a vicious cycle of confrontations and violence; which was appreciated by the US president, praising the volume of communication and continuous and joint coordination; which reflects the strength and depth of strategic relations between Egypt and the United States.
The presidential spokesman added that the contact also touched on the situation in Sudan, where President Sisi stressed the Egyptian position in principle on the Sudanese crisis, and Egypt's keenness to stop the fire urgently, and its appreciation for all relevant initiatives; to ensure the unity of Sudan, its territorial integrity.
