President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Friday French Prime Minister Jean Castex and discussed overall cooperation between the two countries, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Sisi and Castex tackled the increase in the investments and business activity of the French companies in Egypt, especially in the field of infrastructure within the framework of the Decent Life Initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside and the localization of industry.

Sisi stressed the strong and strategic Egyptian-French relations across the political, economic, and military fields. He also expressed keenness to continue joint action to deepen the Egyptian-French partnership.

On his part, the French prime minister asserted his country’s firm approach to enhance the strategic relations with Egypt, due to its leverage as well as its pivotal and balanced role in the Middle East.

He noted the significant development in bilateral ties in all fields. He also referred to meeting with Egypt’s prime minister, during his visit to France last October.

Castex affirmed working to increase the French companies’ business activity and investments in Egypt in many fields that are of priority to the development process.

Sisi arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport in the French capital, Paris, on Thursday to take part in the International Conference on Libya.

“The President’s participation in this important conference comes in response to the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, and in light of the close relations between Egypt and France, as well as Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting the political track in Libya at the bilateral, regional and international levels,” noted Rady.
