President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has just arrived in Brest city in Brittany in the northwest of France to take part in the One Ocean Summit, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The One Ocean Summit aims to mobilize the international community to take tangible action towards preserving and supporting a healthy and sustainable ocean.

The first major event of a “super year” for the ocean, the Summit is an opportunity to kick-off the second year of the Ocean Decade with the first big international commitment to protect the ocean and reverse its declining health.

“The participation of Sisi in this important event comes at an invitation by President Macron,” said Rady.

The President is among a limited number of heads of state and government invited to the summit to discuss international action on the environment and global environmental degradation, in light of the firm and growing relations between Egypt and France, in addition to Egypt’s vital role regionally and internationally in efforts and initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and marine ecosystem protection.

These efforts will culminate in Egypt’s hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC in Sharm El Sheikh next November.
