Sisi Arrives in Baghdad to Participate in Tripartite Summit

On Sunday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Baghdad to participate in the tripartite summit among Egypt, Iraq and Jordan, along with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and Jordan’s king Abdullah II.

"The summit is considered to be a part of the fourth round of the tripartite cooperation mechanism that was launched In Cairo in March 2019," Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady said.

Sisi's visit to Baghdad, which marks the first visit of an Egyptian president to Iraq in 30 years, reflects the strength of the historical relations extended between Egypt and Iraq, as well as the government and the people.

Moreover, the confirms Egypt’s keenness to support and develop these relations towards broader horizons within the framework of the unity of destiny and challenges, and in response to common interests for the two brotherly countries.

Sisi's participation in the Baghdad Summit comes within the framework of building on what has been achieved during the previous three summits, evaluating development in various fields of cooperation and following up on projects being implemented.

This comes in the context of supporting and deepening the distinguished relations among the three brotherly countries, in addition to strengthening political consultation to find out ways in order to tackle the challenges facing the Arab world and the Middle East.

Furthermore, Rady added that Sisi is going to meet with Al-Kadhimi to discuss the brotherly relations between the two countries, which have witnessed great growth during the past few years.

Also, the two leaders will develop ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries, in addition to consulting about the regional files.

In the same vein, the president will hold a meeting with king Abdullah II to discuss bilateral relations within the framework of the close and fraternal ties that unite Egypt and Jordan.

This meeting will stress the two countries' keenness to strengthen cooperation and continue intensive consultation on issues of common interest.
